Philly New Media Weekend
Had a great time this weekend attending BarCamp Philly and catching up with several of my new media friends from Philadelphia Area.
I ran into Alex Hillman from IndyHall, Whitney Hoffman, Beth Harte, Christine Cavalier, Mark Magliocco & few other local new media attendies who were there.

Walt Ribeiro - Building Your Brand Session
Some of the sessions I attented really insipired me to work on some of the ideas I had for a long time. The one sessions stood out for me was Walt Ribeiro’s Building your Brand Session.
He is very energized internet music teacher and lives off by doing a video show on his blog - WaltRibeiro.net. This dude reminded me so much of Gary Vaynerchuk, and I think he will make it far in the online music space.
Philly New Media Community is definatelly an exciting place right now and I am looking forward to attending more events like this.

Photos of the event can be viewed on Flickr.
BarCamp Philly
This weekend I will be attending BarCamp Philly!
BarCamp is defined by Wikipedia as follows:
“…an international network of user generated conferences — open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants — often focusing on early-stage web applications, and related open source technologies, social protocols, and open data formats.”
I plan to meet many cool people in the social media space located in Philly area and network with them.

LinkedIn.com - Reid Hoffman of LinkedIn
I came across a great interview from Venture Voice Podcast about Reid Hoffman, the founder of Linkedin.com.
Real business networking takes place in the country club, at the chamber of commerce and on the golf course. After all, the Internet is just for friending strangers on MySpace and poking friends on Facebook. If you said all that to Reid Hoffman, he might think twice about adding you as a contact in LinkedIn, the business networking site he started that connects over seven million professionals. Although his Palo Alto-based company is now profitable and growing rapidly, Reid still thinks he has yet to hit the tipping point. Reid’s goal wasn’t always to be an entrepreneur: He just wanted to change the world. His original career choice was “public intellectual”. Hear if his career switch is paying off..

Steven Burda on LinkedIn.com
One of my close friends Steven Burda has reached quite a milestone in the online networking world of Linkedin.com. Steven has reached 10,000 contacts and now considered Top 50 most-connected LinkedIn’s users, according to TopLinked.com.
While Steven always encourages me to join different social networks and groups, I mainly stay active on Facebook, and should really take note on the power and potential of business networking on Linkedin.
Steven Burda recently was interviewed on Stan Relihan’s podcast show The Connections Show. Steven explains how he reached such a high number of contacts and what Linkedin has done for him.

Delaware Valley Philharmonic Orchestra Live Auction
On Sunday, February 11th 2007 I attended the Delaware Valley Philharmonic Orchestra Live Auction.
The DVPO is dedicated to inspiring, entertaining and educating the community by providing high quality, artistic and diverse symphonic concerts performed by professional musicians. Our Creative Arts competition includes three Fine Arts with original compositions in Music, Poetry and Art. It is believed to be the only one of its kind in the region.
The second annual Youth in the Arts live auction raises over $20,000 for their spring concert. My company Media Components has donated an item for the Live Auction- a Custom Brochure Style Website (valued at $3500) to raise money for the concert. The Auction brought in several business owners, Bucks County residents and even our newly elected Congressman - Patrick Murphy who is born and raised in Northeast Philadelphia.
